Stakeholders Review Workshop
NIWE actively participated in the just concluded Stakeholders Review Workshop organized by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Abuja. The occasion was attended by the National Chairman of NIWE, Engr A.R. Lawal, FNSE and the National Vice Chairman, Engr Chinyere Nnenna, FNSE. The National Programmes Coordinator, Engr. Dr. A. Sobowale also participated virtually and a host of other high level water sector professionals. The presenter of the National Climate Resilient Water Management Plan (NCRWMP), Prof. O.J. Otun is seen inset picture. The workshop generated a lot of useful discussions on how our water sector system can be best managed to cope with the vagaries of the weather

Who We Are?
The Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers (NIWE) is a division of The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) whose objective among others is to serve as an umbrella body for Engineers from water related discipline, and those working in the Water Industry to ensure the effective utilization of human and material resources for the Professional Development and competence of its members through capacity building, public awareness, research in water and sanitation management.
There have been substantial achievements recorded in the area of Professional Development of Members which was achieved through the platform of Technical Presentations at the Chapter’s level. During the Technical Presentation at the Chapter’s monthly general meetings, members of the Division were able to discuss and interact effectively on numerous issues confronting Nigeria.
The Division also participated in the World Water Day Celebration in collaboration with FCT Water Board where NIWE donated 10,000ltrs Water Storage tanks to IDP Camp, DURUMI, Abuja including sensitizing them on the “Hand Washing technique”. This is in line with the theme of the year “leaving no one behind”.

Global Climate Change and Water Resources – Processes, Impacts and Adaptations
The second International Water Conference (IWC) of the Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers was held in the prestigious Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Nigeria between 15th and 17th October, 2018. The theme of the year conference was “Global Climate Change and Water Resources – Processes, Impacts and adaptations”. The Conference harvested knowledge from around the world in how to manage our water resources and sustainably.
