UPCOMING NEW EVENT 2022
5th NIWE INTERNATIONAL WATER CONFERENCE
BACKGROUND
The Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers is a Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. In line with its mandate on continuous professional development, the Institution holds International Conference annually on topical issues in the water sub-sector with a view to bring to front burner existing issues, problems, challenges and possible solutions or recommendations on the way forward. The impact and after effect of the public health emergency occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic since January, 2020 has affected all facets of life around the World and the role of water in maintaining personal and environmental hygiene has been evidently shown. The resultant adaptations to these changes hitherto referred to as “the New Normal” and our quest to attaining the Sustainable Developments Goals (SDG) especially as it pertains to water as well as an effective water governance framework has led to the choice of the theme of the 4th NIWE International Water Conference. The central theme of this year’s Conference, “Ïnnovative Solutions to Water Supply and Water Infrastructural Challenges in Nigeria”, is not only timely, but seeks to synchronise water availability, quality, utilisation, management, sectoral challenges and remedies with development.
